Filing your work injury claim in Duluth

If you suffered a work-related injury while on the job in Duluth or elsewhere in Georgia, it’s vital that you take action immediately. First, seek medical attention and notify your supervisor or manager. Get looked at by a doctor or nurse to begin the healing process. Next, take the necessary steps to submit a workers’ compensation claim with your employer. If you wait too long to file your workers’ compensation claim, insurance companies may view your injury and claim as illegitimate.

Once you file a formal workers’ compensation claim, it will require you to include details about your injury and situation—including the location of the injury, how the injury occurred, date and time, and potential witnesses. Fill out the information as accurately as you can, and be sure to attend all follow-up medical appointments.

    He got it done
“Ben got me the medical treatment I needed when the insurance company didn’t want to let me see a doctor, even though I needed knee surgery. He got it done. I recommend Ben Gerber and Associates to anyone with a workman’s comp issue.”

    Friendly, honest, professional
“Ben is friendly, honest, professional. After being injured at work, my former employer played some games with my paycheck and health coverage; I never would have known they weren’t allowed to do that without Ben. He recovered money owed, had my coverage reinstated, and insisted they pay a penalty.”

    About Duluth, Georgia

Duluth is a small city located in Gwinnett County, GA, and is often considered a suburb of Atlanta. While Duluth itself is home to roughly 30,000 people, Gwinnett County as a whole has more than a million residents. Located north of I-85 and often found on many “Best Cities to Live In” lists, Duluth was originally a Cherokee territory before European settlers moved into the area around the time of the War of 1812.

Originally called Howell’s Crossing, the name was later changed to Duluth in 1871 when a north-south railroad line was built through the county. And yes, Duluth, GA was indeed named after the city of Duluth, Minnesota, which originated from a French explorer and soldier named Daniel Greysolon, Sieur du Lhut (also spelled Du Luth).

Geographically, Duluth sits 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta and borders the Chattahoochee River to the north, Suwanee in the northeast, Berkeley Lake in the west and unincorporated land to the south. For much of its history, Duluth was a sleepy little town. That all changed between 1980 and 1990, when its population tripled from 3,000 to 9,000 as larger employers moved into the area and development along Sugarloaf Parkway brought in new businesses. The growth has only continued through the decades until now.

Though Duluth, Gwinnett County and the entire Atlanta metro has experienced massive change in recent years, one thing that has stayed the same is the right of Duluth residents to seek workers’ compensation if they are hurt or become ill on the job. These benefits include compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other expenses.

If you have questions about your rights and responsibilities under Georgia workers’ compensation law, don’t hesitate to contact one of our experienced Duluth injured worker attorneys. The process of filing a workers’ comp claim properly and negotiating the maximum possible settlement offer is difficult, especially if you’re trying to focus on recovering from your injury or illness. Call our lawyers to let us help ensure your claim is perfect and that you aren’t being taken advantage of by your employer or their insurance company.
